Fischer Lab Research

Our group focuses on the characterization of genetic and biochemical traits which enable rhizobial symbionts to infect and persistently colonize legume host plants during formation of a nitrogen-fixing root nodule symbiosis. We use the B. diazoefficiens - soybean model system to define regulatory networks and functions of specific target genes that contribute to the intimate symbiotic interaction between these organisms.
