Research area

Microbial organisms inhabit virtually any environment, form diverse communities and are important players in host-associated health and global biogeochemical cycling. To better understand ecological and evolutionary factors driving microbial community structure and function, it is crucial to assess the growth states of different community members in diverse environments.

My goal is to develop and integrate experimental and bioinformatics methods to predict growth states of microbial community members. This would allow us to further analyze microbial fitness, community structure and function subject to environmental change.
